On April 20th and 21st, the annual Essendon Gem and Lapidary Club exhibition was held in the club rooms at Cross Keys Reserve in Essendon. It was nice weather for it and once again our club members banded together to put on a lively exhibition for the public, showcasing many interesting displays and demonstrations. This year, we had Yvette from Rock and Mineral Supermarket, Des Liston Lapidary Supplies and Nola and the Rock Rats on stalls, while Troy Hixon demonstrated faceting, and our kitchen team (Elma, Jenny, Kerrie and Bill) provided yummy snacks for the visitors. Thanks to Daryl, who repeated the success of the fossicking hunt for gemstones in the car park and thanks to all members who helped clean up and arrange the exhibition for the big day.
Each year, the Essendon Gem & Lapidary Club holds an Annual Exhibition with member displays, demonstrations, lapidary sales and refreshments. It’s a good opportunity to buy affordable lapidary supplies, learn about the club’s crafts and how they are done, and to talk to members of the club about their hobby. Everyone is welcome at the Annual Exhibition, both members and the general public. Entry is usually very cheap (around $3 per adult) and children can attend for $1 with parents. The Annual Exhibition is held in March-May each year and you can find out more on our website in February/March as to the exact date.
