The 2011 Essendon Gem and Lapidary Club gem show was held a bit earlier than usual – on March 19th and 20th. We enjoyed beautiful weather and a good turn out of visitors – some from as far away as Warrnambool and Swan Hill! There was lots of new people demonstrating lapidary crafts this year – David showed us how to do chain linking, Pat and Don demonstrated faceting, and Daryl showed us his exceptional wire-wrapping skills. Lots of friends got together for a good chat, and there were quite a few glass displays and glass items for sale (2010-2011 was our first year of glass fusing).
Each year, the Essendon Gem & Lapidary Club holds an Annual Exhibition with member displays, demonstrations, lapidary sales and refreshments. It’s a good opportunity to buy affordable lapidary supplies, learn about the club’s crafts and how they are done and to talk to members of the club about their hobby.
Everyone is welcome at the Annual Exhibition, both members and the general public. Entry is usually very cheap, and children can attend with parents. The Annual Exhibition is now held in March each year.
